UPDATE: Just What is a Virtual Steps for Kids?
As you may have heard from our previous announcements, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to protect our youth and community, Steps for Kids 2020 has gone virtual!
But what exactly does that mean?
Well, our team has been working hard to bring you our Steps for Kids walk, right to your home!
We hope that you will still register on our website and fundraise as normal, bringing much-needed funding to children and youth who access our mental health programs. These services are essential and are still running during the pandemic. They rely on the fundraising dollars brought in every year at Steps for Kids, this year more than ever!
So, check back onto our website during Children’s Mental Health Week (May 3-9) to see our #StepsforKidsChallenge take shape! We will offer an interactive online boardgame challenge for kids, complete with colouring pages, Steps Bingo and dancing! And for the adult challenge, we hope you and your children will walk however you can, indoors or out, and share your walk on social media using our hashtag #StepsforKidsChallenge!
Our #StepsforKidsChallenge will have prizes to be won, as well as the usual prizes for our top fundraisers!
Let’s show youth in our region that they aren’t alone, at a time when many of us feel more alone than ever before! Let’s show them that walking together doesn’t have to mean physically, and we are still here with them to offer our support and lift the stigma of mental illness.
Thank you for continuing to step up with us in this new format. We are so excited to see what we are all able to accomplish together!
